Ferret Pregnancy Timeline and Due Date Calculator
Ferret Pregnancy Timeline and Due Date Calculator
This calculator estimates a typical due date window, an average due date, and a practical timeline for planning a ferret pregnancy. It supports multiple ferret types and provides a milestone table you can customize and export.
How the calculator works
You enter a mating date (Day 0) and select a ferret type. The calculator applies a typical pregnancy duration range for that type to compute:
- Due window start - the earliest typical due date
- Due date (average) - a midpoint estimate for planning
- Due window end - the latest typical due date
Formulas used
The calculator is based on date offsets in days:
\( \text{DueStart} = \text{MatingDate} + \text{MinDays} \)
\( \text{DueAvg} = \text{MatingDate} + \text{AvgDays} \)
\( \text{DueEnd} = \text{MatingDate} + \text{MaxDays} \)
Progress is computed against the average length:
\[ \text{Progress\%} = \frac{\text{DaysPregnant}}{\text{AvgDays}} \times 100 \]
Detailed vs. Simple timeline
The Simple mode shows fewer checkpoints (useful for quick planning). The Detailed mode adds extra milestones such as early veterinary checkpoints. The table is always shown in both modes so you can export or customize columns.
Important notes
This tool provides planning estimates, not a diagnosis. Individual pregnancy lengths can vary by animal, breeding timing, and health factors. If the reference date is beyond the typical due window and you have concerns, seek veterinary guidance.
